Description
Nurses are not allowed to diagnose, but are expected to know the most likely etiology of skin breakdown and then choose an appropriate care plan. The buttock area poses a particular challenge due to the difficulty of differentiating between skin injuries due to pressure, friction or moisture.
During this 2-hour webinar, you will be introduced to a system that can greatly simplify the process of differentiating pressure ulcers and moisture-associated skin damage (MASD - also known as maceration), such as incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD). By clarifying the definition of pressure ulcers and using a new IAD assessment tool, buttock skin injuries will be more accurately named.

She conducted and published the first research documenting incontinence associated dermatitis prevalence in acute care and has published in several nursing and wound journals. Since 2008 she has devoted her time to teaching in 49 states and 5 provinces in Canada. This, along with her wound consulting business gives her a broad perspective.
