Russell Barkley, PhD

Russell A. Barkley, PhD, recently retired (January 1, 2022) from his position as a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine (2016-present). He is also a retired Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology from the University of Massachusetts Medical Center (1985-2002) and subsequently worked as a Professor of Psychiatry and Health Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (2003-2016). Dr. Barkley is the founder and Editor of the clinical newsletter, The ADHD Report, which he continues to edit in this 30th and final year of publication (2022). He is board certified in Clinical Psychology (ABPP), Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, and Clinical Neuropsychology (ABCN, ABPP).

Dr. Barkley is a clinical scientist, educator and practitioner who has published 27 books, rating scales, and clinical manuals numbering more than 43 editions, and creator of 7 award winning professional videos. He has published more than 300 scientific articles and book chapters related to the nature, assessment, and treatment of ADHD and related disorders and is the author of the book Managing ADHD in School (PESI, 2016).

Dr. Barkley has presented more than 800 invited lectures in more than 30 countries and appeared on nationally televised shows such as 60 Minutes, the Today show, Good Morning America, CBS Sunday Morning, CNN, and many others. Scott D. Walls, MA, LIPC, CCMHC, is a mental health counselor in private practice in Lincoln, NE, and has previously spent 15 years with the Lincoln Public Schools as a behavior specialist and psychotherapist. Scott has provided therapy and consultation services for hundreds of children, teens and families in the Lincoln area. In addition, Scott has provided numerous trainings for teachers, administrators and case management staff for various agencies. He is also the author of Oppositional, Defiant & Disruptive Children and Adolescents (PESI, 2016) and Behavior Management Skills Guide with Deb Rauner (PESI, 2015).

Scott co-founded a domestic violence group for female offenders and was a practicing therapist and case manager supervisor for a special project in Lincoln that offered treatment for torture and trauma survivors for refugees and immigrants. Jennifer Wilke-Deaton, MA, LPA, is a licensed behavioral health therapist working in a private practice setting in Richmond and Lexington, KY, and a nationally recognized school consultant. Jen has 25 years of experience working with crisis management, psychological testing, inpatient/outpatient treatment, groups, families, and the court system. A tireless and passionate advocate for children and families, she developed a parent training program recognized by the Governor’s Commission for the Treatment of Children & Families and Kentucky’s Child Protective Services. Jen helped create a regional children’s crisis stabilization unit, children’s advocacy center, and an intensive after-school program for behaviorally challenged youth.
