Ann Taylor, MS, RN, CWOCN®, created Kahl WOC Consultants in 2002 to provide wound care and legal consults across the care settings. With over 20 years’ experience as a specialty nurse in wound, ostomy and continence nursing, she has vast experience to reduce risk of legal exposure through incorporation of current wound management trends and protocols.

Ann’s commitment to clinical excellence and patient outcomes is evident by her committee work with the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society. She currently serves on the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Certification Board on the certification exam committee. As an author, Ann has over 20 clinical wound abstracts and has created numerous policies, algorithms and guidelines for use in practice. Additionally, her practice in the legal consulting arena is busy and continues to grow.

M. Dolores Farrer, DPM, MBA, CWS®, is a surgically trained podiatrist involved in wound care and limb salvage for over 32 years. She has been board-certified by the American Board of Wound Management (ABWH) since 2003 and proudly serves as secretary on the board of directors for the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC) for over four years.

Dr. Farrer works with a comprehensive multi-specialty wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy clinic in Columbia, South Carolina. She trains new wound care clinicians and uses real-world evidence with patient-centered outcomes that have resulted in above-average healing rates and decreased amputation rates. Dr. Farrer has experience in private practice, hospital inpatient, outpatient wound clinics, and nursing homes.

She enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience as a wound care expert in national speaking engagements. Dr. Farrer graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine and obtained her MBA in her hometown of New Orleans, LA.

Laura Swoboda, DNP, APNP, FNP-BC, FNP-C, CWSP, is a family nurse practitioner and translational scientist at SkinGurus in Milwaukee, WI. Dr Swoboda is on the editorial board of American Nurse Journal, the official journal of the American Nurses Association, and WOUNDS journal. They represent North America on the International Skin Tear Advisory Panel and are President of the Milwaukee Metro Nurse Practitioner Association. Dr Swoboda has won two career lifetime achievement awards under the age of forty as a fellow of both the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Wound Ostomy Continence Nurses Association.

Monali Zaveri, MS, RD, LD/N, CDCES, NWCC, is a registered dietitian with over 17 years of experience. Born and raised in India, she acquired her Bachelor’s in dietetics and nutrition from SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai, India. She then came to the United States to study, and graduated with a master’s in dietetics and nutrition from Florida International University in Miami, FL. Her training, acquired from both East and West, has afforded her a unique and holistic perspective in treating her patients. After graduating, she initially worked as a nutrition consultant on varied aspects of the field including the Head Start and Healthy Start programs, and other community nutrition education programs. Subsequently, her focus has primarily been in the field of adult and geriatric nutrition and has worked at various skilled nursing facilities. Dealing with very clinically complex patients and having a penchant for learning honing her skills, Monali has acquired several other micro-specializations. She acquired a certification in adult weight management, then became certified as a Diabetes care and education specialist in 2017, before becoming certified in nutrition wound care in 2018. Over the course of her career, she has had the honor of training several other dietetic students and registered dietitians. Additionally, she has served as the president of the Miami Academy of Dietetics and Nutrition.

Tisha Barzyk, DNP, AGACNP-BC, CWS®, PLNC, is an adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, advanced wound care expert, and professional legal nurse consultant. She has a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee. She has over twenty-five years of clinical experience in acute trauma, orthopaedic trauma, vascular surgery, and advanced wound care. Dr. Barzyk is certified as a Wound Care Nurse – Advanced Practice through The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society. She works as an advanced wound care provider and is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Clinical Officer for Integumetrix, which she founded in 2016 as a nurse practitioner and physician assistant advanced wound care consultation group practice. Integumetrix provides over 40,000 visits a year to patients with acute and chronic wounds in the acute and post-acute care settings across three states.

Dr. Barzyk also performs expert witness services for wound care malpractice cases. She has reviewed and provided opinions and expert testimony for almost one hundred fifty wound care malpractice cases since 2013. This experience has given her extensive insight and a unique understanding of the standard of care and common breaches in care settings across the United States. She is active in the local and national wound care community and performs work in other aspects of wound care including product research and evaluation, development of wound care policy and protocol, inpatient and outpatient wound care program development and integration, and has participated in and led numerous standard of care initiatives.

Mark Hinkes, DPM, FACFAS, FAPWCA DABFAS is a podiatrist who is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and by the American Professional Wound Care Association. His experience includes 40+ years providing foot health services in nearly 200,000 patient visits, 20 years in private practice, and 20 years in the Veterans Affairs Medical System as former Chief of Podiatry Section and Chair of the Preservation Amputation Care Treatment (PACT) Program.
